URGENTLY REQUIRED: 

  • National Funding Manager (Full-Time)  – Auckland
  • National Crisis Case Manager – National Position Based in Auckland
  • Volunteers – multiple locations

Shakti Community Council Inc. is a 23 years old not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the well-being of migrant refugee women, children and families of Asian, Middle Eastern and African origins.

Led by ethnic women for ethnic women, we work to enhance social justice, women’s rights and contribute to safer ethnic communities.

POSITION: National Funding Manager (Full-Time) Auckland

We have an opening for a full time Funding Manager who can effectively represent our organisation and our cause, as well as support in developing funding and fundraising opportunities.

Main duties would involve:

  • Maintain existing and develop new funding sources for Shakti, member organizations and related projects.
  • Grant writing, tracking and accountability reports.
  • Grant Filling and Administration.
  • Recruitment of volunteers.
  • Organizing, overseeing and supporting fundraising initiatives.
  • Project development and Monitoring.
  • Coordinating with national funding officer

Skills /Qualifications Required:

  • Ideally have a degree in gender studies, social policy, international development, journalism or sociology
  • Have excellent communication, advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Relevant work experience in fundraising will be helpful
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet funding targets and application deadlines
  • Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Able to think laterally and innovatively
  • Have good command of spoken and written English
  • Be able to lobby and advocate for new projects and their funding
  • Ability to build good interpersonal relationship with staff, funders and networks
  • Knowledge of at least one Asian, African or Middle Eastern language apart from English is mandatory.
  • Be empathetic towards working with women and children
  • Full New Zealand driving license is required

The Position is based in Auckland and will be full time for 35 hours a week. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The ideal candidate will be a New Zealand Resident or Citizen.

POSITION: NATIONAL CRISIS CASE MANAGER (Full-Time)
We are seeking a National Crisis Case Manager to join our professional team in Auckland.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing Supervision for Specialist Crisis Case Managers. Ensuring appropriate service delivery to clients.
  • Ability to provide leadership to the team: Motivate, guide and lead a team to achieve Shakti’s objectives.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to trouble shoot and think on one’s feet to solve day to day operational and service issues.
  • Administration relating to service delivery: Ensuring that the team is rostered and informed of appointments to provide the appropriate and timely service to clients.
  • Looking after day to day office activities.
  • Client related Documentation Management and reporting: Maintaining an accurate and timely online record of client case files, submitting client reports and statistics.
  • Administration relating to office management.
  • Reporting: accurate and timely reporting of Monthly reports, finance reports, CYFs accountability reports and project based reports.
  • Attending and organizing internal and external meetings.
  • Networking among external stakeholders.

 

To be successful in this role you will be:

  • Having educational background either in Social work, Psychology, Social Policy and have prior management experience
  • Passionate about working with women and children and ensuring their safety, and promoting social equality
  • Able to work well under pressure and prioritize effectively
  • Open to understand the complex dynamics surrounding family and gender violence and have a women’s rights perspective
  • Strong & demonstrable ability for advocacy, networking and team building
  • Having understanding of working in a cross cultural environment
  • Empathetic and a good listener
  • Fluent in at least one Asian, Middle Eastern or African language (A must)
  • Valid NZ’s driving license
  • Excellent in spoken and written English language skills

 

Previous experience in case work or crisis management will be an added advantage.

YOUTH ADVOCATE/ CASE WORKER- SHAKTI FAMILY CENTRE AUCKLAND (Part-time)

We are looking to hire a young individual for the position of Youth Advocate/ Case worker

Responsibilities

  • Handling youth case work
  • Prepare and submit fortnightly client reports
  • Crisis response management
  • Liaising and advocating for clients
  • Provide support to youth clients
  • Completing client files and maintaining them
  • Liaising and advocating for Shakti as an organization with various government departments
  • Help in fund raising events ( youth fund raising )
  • Conducting youth workshops
  • Liaising with national youth coordinators

Skills

  • Ideally completed high school in New Zealand
  • Confident with public speaking
  • Ideally have a degree in social work, gender studies, social policy, international development or sociology
  • Good knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of at least one Asian, African or Middle Eastern language apart from English is mandatory.
  • Have good command of spoken and written English
  • Be empathetic towards working with women and children

POSITION: VOLUNTEERS (NATIONAL)

Shakti Community Council is looking for an efficient and enthusiastic volunteers representing the different ethnic communities (Asians, African and Middle East) based in  Wellington, Christchurch, Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua and Te Puke to assist Shakti’s staff in providing support services to ethnic women and children whom are victims of domestic violence in areas of language translation, Crisis pick-up, telephone counselling, youth steering, etc. Interested volunteers should have a feminist perspective, passion to work in the Human Rights area, able to advocate and stand up for women’s rights and issues. Hours are negotiable.

Shakti Australia is looking for a Coordinator who can engage in organisational development activities including advocacy and fund- raising.

The position can be based in Sydney or Melbourne but the ideal candidate should be able to travel between these cities. Additionally the role could be full time or part time. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
